From a cozy apartment in San Francisco...
Hi, I’m Enrique, a Visual UI Designer and Musician born and raised in Mexico City. I studied Graphic Design at Universidad Iberoamericana with a focus on packaging.
I started my career in 2001 at CMD Associates, a boutique design and advertising firm. During my time there, I worked on print, advertising, interactive media, and web design for global brands such as Domino's Pizza, José Cuervo Tequila, and Visa.
At the end of 2002, I joined ING Mexico where I developed print and interactive materials for all insurance products and internal communications, including the company's intranet. This position gave me the opportunity to deeply explore the many potential permutations of a single brand.
In 2004 I launched Biovo, a design firm of one. I served as everything from Creative Director to Project Manager for a wide range of clients; including photographers, designers, and programmers. My clients included ING México, UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, and local non-profits and NGOs like Infancia Común and CEDAT. Working independently with a wide range of clients broadened my experience and taught me to be nimble and flexible.
In 2007 I moved to San Francisco and joined Native Instinct as a Visual Designer. There I worked with many prestige clients, including Visa, Wells Fargo, Flip Cameras, and Salesforce. I was responsible for providing visual concepts, designs, Flash animations, and sound design for websites and interactive products.
In 2012 I joined Skype as a Visual Designer. I helped to integrate Skype with various Microsoft products, like Outlook.com and Office 365. Starting in 2015, I became the main visual designer for Skype’s Android app, which included a ground-up redesign of Skype’s android apps into the Material Design system.
In 2016 I joined Nutanix as a Senior Visual Designer. Since then, I’ve worked to unify the look and feel across their vast suite of highly technical tools. This included integrating acquired 3rd party apps into our design language and system. Since 2018, I have been in charge of visual design for Prism which is one of the premiere products of the Nutanix portfolio. It has been a great experience working with a talented team of incredibly talented and passionate designers.
Over the years I have enjoyed and learned so much from the different teams I had the good fortune to be part of. I think smart people working collaboratively is the key to making incredible products, and I love being a passionate advocate for the needs of all our users.
When not designing, I can be found performing songs from my 10 albums in small venues throughout the Bay Area (with occasional performances in Mexico City), or walking around the city with my little doggie Matus.
