Prism Infrastructure
This project came as an evolution to the Netsil integration to the Nutanix ecosystem. By adding more complex functionality, users were able to monitor their infrastructure by adding filters to get a more comprehensive snapshot.
Role
- Lead visual designer collaborating with UX designer in charge of translating infrastructure into heat maps and visualizations for visual UI. Working closely with PM and Engineering for implementation.
Challenges
- There were plenty on the technical side. Performance was a big challenge, we needed to scale and represent different sets of information. Infrastructure can change from user to user to a completely different scale.
- We needed to allow users to customize their infrastructure by adding filters, thresholds and limits.
Results
- To represent the different infrastructures at different scales, we had to create a full library of assets was created for this project.
We reduced the visual representation to the simplest form to make it easier to understand for the user regardless of the scale of the infrastructure.
- Performance issues improved with using simple shapes and adjust the visualization to percentages rather than literal elements.
